Another smartphone manufacturer has decided to integrate Goodix’s optical in-display fingerprint sensor into one of its devices. This time around, the sensor will be appearing in the #AbsoluteEverything edge+ smartphone from Motorola.
Motorola is one of several manufacturers that has turned to Goodix to enable biometric authentication in one of its devices. Other recent Goodix customers include Samsung, OnePlus, and Huawei. Samsung placed the sensor in its new Galaxy A71 5G, while OnePlus deployed it in the new 8 series and Huawei did the same in its P40 line of phones.
The news speaks to the ongoing popularity of Goodix’s fingerprint technology. However, the #AbsoluteEverything does not seem to include any of Goodix’s audio solutions, which have also gained traction in the past few months. The OnePlus 8 and the Huawei P40 series both featured Goodix’s smart audio amplifier in addition to the fingerprint sensor.
In the meantime, Goodix has started to search for new applications of its technology. The company provided a fingerprint authentication system for a new SUV coupe from Lynk & Co. The in-car system will ensure that only authorized users will be able to drive the vehicle or gain access to the trunk or glove compartment.
