Selfie authentication remains an ascendant trend, with one of this week’s most-read articles detailing a new authentication system that relies on a national biometric database. Singapore’s DBS Bank has become the first private sector entity in the country to let customers authenticate with a selfie based on the government’s SingPass Face Verification service:

This week also brought news about facial recognition’s application in physical access control. Nedap, a Netherlands-based security specialist, teamed up with Thales to integrate the latter’s Facial Recognition Platform into its own AEOS access control solution:

There was some interesting news from the consumer sector, too. A new report, based on code found in the beta version of Apple’s latest operating system update for its Mac computers, suggests that Apple is planning to bring its Face ID 3D facial recognition system to its computer devices:

And finally, readers were interested in a different kind of face biometrics: emotion recognition.
