Yoti is celebrating a major milestone after announcing that its digital identity app has now surpassed 10 million downloads. Those downloads correspond with users all over the world, though a significant portion of them (2 million, to be precise) occurred in the United Kingdom.
Of course, those stats are not terribly surprising, since Yoti is based in the UK and has actively pursued partnerships with numerous organizations throughout the country. The company is now providing identity services for a wide range of public and private entities, with a client list that includes everyone from NHS England and Volunteer Edinburgh all the way through to the Aldershot Town Football Club and the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Yoti has also been an outspoken advocate for digital identity technologies more generally, and has emphasized the need for privacy and ethical considerations in digital identity schemes in the UK and elsewhere.
Yoti’s flagship app provides users with a secure digital ID that can be stored on a standard smartphone. The solution utilizes facial recognition for identity verification and authentication, though the company has rounded out its portfolio with age estimation and e-signature technology since Yoti was founded in 2014. The company has now performed more than 450 million identity and age checks for the app’s 10 million individual users.
