Xiaomi Debuts Smart Door Lock 4 Pro

Xiaomi has launched its new flagship smart home device, the Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition, in China. The product continues the company’s strategy of bringing high-end, multimodal biometric technology to a mass-market price point, retailing for CNY 2,899 (approximately $408).

The lock’s standout feature is its inclusion of twelve distinct unlocking methods. This includes three separate biometric modalities: facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, and palm vein recognition. The addition of palm vein recognition is a significant leap for a consumer-grade device. This subcutaneous biometric, which reads vein patterns under the skin, is extremely difficult to spoof and is typically reserved for high-security, enterprise-grade applications in sectors like banking and healthcare.

The “Dual Camera Edition” features an upgraded 3MP main camera (160° FOV) and a second 2MP camera (128° FOV), as well as a 3.97-inch internal screen for viewing visitors. The lock connects via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to the Xiaomi Home app, allowing for remote video streaming and tamper notifications. A dual-power system, combining a 6,870 mAh lithium battery with AA backup batteries, provides up to six months of operation.
