Wink's Biometric Checkout Solution Nets e-Commerce Netty Award

The Netty Awards, which recognize achievements in the digital sector across numerous categories, highlighted Wink’s solution for addressing challenges such as fraud and cart abandonment in e-commerce.

The Biometric Checkout solution by Wink incorporates facial recognition, voice identification, and device authentication technologies. These tools are designed to ensure that only verified users can complete transactions, helping to mitigate risks associated with synthetic identities, deepfakes, and automated threats. The platform aims to balance robust security measures with a smooth and personalized shopping experience for users.

“Our Biometric Checkout solution represents the future for securing and boosting commerce,” said Deepak Jain, CEO and Founder of Wink. “Winning the Netty Award is a validation of the hard work, thought leadership and innovation our team has displayed towards our mission of enabling our customers to offer superior experience to their shoppers, both in retail as well as online.”

The use of biometrics in e-commerce has been steadily growing in popularity in recent years. Recently, payments giant Mastercard announced the launch of its Biometric Checkout Program in Europe, starting with a pilot in Poland, in collaboration with Empik and PayEye. That initiative marked Mastercard’s first in-store biometric payment pilot in Europe, following similar initiatives in Brazil and Uruguay, as the company expands its biometric payment solutions globally.
