WHA’s Immunity Passport Solutions Feature Biometric Security

World Health Access (WHA) is looking to provide people with secure immunity credentials in the wake of COVID-19. To that end, the International Health and Wellness subsidiary has announced the launch of electronic VAX Passbooks and VAX Passcards that will allow people to share their vaccination status without sharing any unnecessary personal information.

The information on the Passbook and the Passcard is encrypted in a Reel Code Media RCM Frame, and uses fingerprint recognition to verify the identity of the holder. The primary difference between the two is the form factor, with the Passbook taking the form of an actual booklet and the Passcard having the shape of a credit card. Customers can use both to discreetly share their vaccination status with airport staff, healthcare providers, and other authorities to prove that they are free of COVID-19.

Both products are intended to serve as comprehensive vaccination reports that detail any and all vaccinations (and other medical tests) that the individual has received. That includes the COVID-19 vaccination now being distributed in the US and the UK, in addition to any other vaccines. Those vaccination records are stored and displayed in chronological order to provide a more accurate sense of a patient’s medical history.

According to WHA, airlines and other businesses may soon refuse to offer service to people without COVID immunity. The company is hoping that the Passbook and the Passcard will fulfill that need and facilitate economic recovery.

“In order to reopen the economy, many organizations will require COVID-19 vaccine verification. VAX Passbook and Passcard provide this service with convenience and user-privacy in mind,” said International Health and Wellness CEO Isaac Daniel. “At this time, there is no national organization that maintains vaccination records, not even the CDC. VAX Passbook and Passcard are an essential component in the global efforts to restore normalcy.”

WHA is one of several organizations working to deliver immunity credentials. CLEAR recently partnered with LabCorp to allow people to share COVID-19 test results, while Yoti has provided digital credentials for people taking GeneMe’s FRANKD test.
