Vietnam’s national blockchain platform NDAChain has completed what its organizers describe as the country’s first cross-border on-chain transaction, executing a verified identity-anchored exchange between participants from Vietnam and Indonesia without transferring raw personal data across national borders.
The milestone was demonstrated at the launch of the On-chain Finance Network during the Vietnam FinTech and RegTech Immersion Program 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. The transaction used verified credentials built on NDAChain’s NDADID infrastructure, a self-sovereign identity layer developed by PILA, as the trust anchor. Under the model, citizens hold their own credentials rather than submitting raw data to recipient systems, and only the verified credential, not the underlying personal information, crosses the border. GOE Alliance Executive Board member and R&D Director Tony Tran said: “What we demonstrated today is not a pilot program or a whitepaper. It is a working proof.”
NDAChain operates as a permissioned Layer 1 blockchain with a consortium of 49 public-private validator nodes operated by state agencies and major Vietnamese enterprises. The platform runs on a Proof-of-Authority consensus protocol enhanced with Zero-Knowledge Proof technology for privacy protection and is capable of processing up to 3,600 transactions per second. NDAChain Architect Huy Nguyen said the PoC demonstrates that Vietnam “can also master and contribute core trust infrastructure” to international standards. TOTM Labs Head Chan Wei Jie added that verified credentials “establish digital trust and serve as the foundation of business transactions.”
The Vietnam-Indonesia corridor was selected as the first bilateral test. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $17.2 billion in 2025. The cross-border PoC is a private-sector complement to Vietnam’s 2026 universal digital ID target, which calls for every adult citizen to hold a verified digital identity by year-end. It also builds on the cross-border openings created by Vietnam’s extension of VNeID to foreign nationals, which began in July 2025 and established the identity infrastructure for bilateral digital trust. Vietnam has also been positioning itself as a regional digital ID hub, as evidenced by Vietnam’s export of digital ID infrastructure to Laos.
