Veridas Platform Supports Mexico’s New Mobile Line ID Rules

Veridas says its identity platform is being used by Mexican mobile operators to comply with new Guidelines for the Identification of Mobile Telephone Lines, which require each mobile line to be linked to a validated official identity, according to a company release.

The company said the guidelines took effect on January 9 and require identity validation for activation, cancellation, or change of ownership, with proof-of-life required for remote processes. Veridas said its platform has processed nearly 1,000,000 identity verifications so far this year, with peak volumes of more than 500 validations per minute.

Veridas said its platform maintained 100 percent availability during the rollout, while other sector infrastructures experienced outages due to volume spikes. The company said more than 75 percent of Mexican mobile lines have maintained uninterrupted access since the regulation took effect.

SIM registration and telecom identity checks have been tightening in multiple markets, including moves toward mandatory facial biometrics for SIM registration and policies that tie digital identity to telecom ecosystems, such as telco integration for national digital ID. In Mexico, broader identity modernization efforts include a phased mandate for biometric CURP.

The release also cites figures from Veridas’ 2025 Identity Fraud Report, stating that deepfake attempts already account for nearly 41% of detected cases in remote verification. Veridas said it uses Renewable Biometric References (RBRs) to avoid storing images or sensitive data while complying with Mexico’s personal data law, the LFPDPPP.

Veridas CEO Eduardo Azanza said the regulation’s entry into force served as a major stress test for the industry. Americas Director Jordi Torres said the deployment underscores the importance of working with technology partners capable of operating at massive scale.

The company did not specify how many mobile operators are using the platform or the specific verification workflows implemented by each carrier, but pointed to national-scale volumes, peak throughput performance, and continuous availability as indicators of readiness for the new regulatory environment.
