UK Digital ID Partnership Takes Aim at National Photo ID Accessibility

A new partnership between Credas Technologies and IDGO aims to address widespread identification accessibility issues affecting millions of UK citizens. The collaboration will combine Credas’s identity verification technology with IDGO’s PASS-certified ID card issuance to provide more inclusive identification solutions.

The partnership builds on Credas’s established presence in UK identity verification, where it has previously worked on developing regulatory frameworks for identification technologies. The firm’s latest collaboration with IDGO will leverage multiple trusted data sources, including the HALO database, Amberhill, and the electoral roll, to ensure secure and accurate identity validation.

“For too long, the lack of accessible and affordable identification has excluded people from fundamental aspects of life, from employment to voting and banking,” said Dannii Hadaway, founder at IDGO. “With the growing need for proof of age, especially as young people will soon need to verify both their age and identity to access social media platforms, this issue has never been more pressing.”

The initiative follows recent developments in the UK’s digital ID landscape, where other providers have received PASS accreditation for digital identity solutions. This trend reflects growing government support for modernized identification systems that can better serve the entire population.

Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas, emphasized the importance of accessibility in identity verification: “At Credas, we believe that identity verification should be seamless, secure, and, most importantly, accessible to all. Our partnership with IDGO is a significant step towards breaking down barriers to identification, ensuring that individuals can access essential services without unnecessary hurdles.”

Looking ahead, IDGO is developing the UK’s first dual-sided ID and payment card, which aims to combine identification and financial services in a single solution. The news could further streamline access to essential services for individuals who currently face barriers to traditional identification methods.
