Trust Stamp Named Exclusive Technology Partner for Ghana Fire Safety Certification Program

Trust Stamp has been appointed the sole and exclusive technology subcontractor for a program to digitize fire safety certification across Ghana, where it will supply the program’s core technology and biometric identity layer.

The company signed a Master Technology Subcontract Agreement with E&P; Limited, the Ghanaian company leading the deployment of AFCAS, the African Fire Certification and Assurance Scheme. AFCAS is a public-private partnership with the Ghana National Fire Service that covers the full certification process, from application and payment through inspection to certificate issuance.

Trust Stamp’s technology will be integrated with local payment and program partners to verify inspectors, process payments securely and produce tamper-resistant certificates that can be checked instantly. The companies say the system is meant to reduce fraudulent certification, improve revenue collection and strengthen building safety oversight.

All program data will be stored and processed in Ghana under the country’s Data Protection Act, 2012. Trust Stamp will use its patented Irreversibly Transformed Identity Token, or IT2, technology, which converts biometric data into secure, revocable identity tokens so that the original biometric information does not need to be stored.

Based on certification volumes projected by E&P;, Trust Stamp says the program represents a multi-million-dollar annual recurring revenue opportunity, subject to final commercial terms.

“AFCAS is a strong example of how our technology can help governments modernise essential public services while keeping data sovereign,” said Gareth N. Genner, Trust Stamp’s CEO. “Following our recent agreement in Nigeria, this appointment further strengthens our position as a trusted identity and digital infrastructure partner across Africa.” That agreement is a three-year deal with BLIP for Nigerian government identity programs.

“E&P; has built a compelling programme with the Ghana National Fire Service, and we are proud to be its exclusive technology partner,” said Jonathan Patscheider, Trust Stamp’s senior vice president for Africa, adding that the company sees the digital certification model “being adopted well beyond Ghana.”

“Our partnership with Trust Stamp presents a unique opportunity to fully ringfence and secure a nationwide operation that assures all stakeholders of secure identity management,” said Isaac Obeng-Darko, chief operating officer at E&P; Limited, an engineering and maintenance contractor whose work spans the petroleum, mining, marine, manufacturing and aviation industries.
