Trust Stamp has achieved D-seal certification, marking a significant validation of its biometric identity solutions’ compliance with European data protection and privacy standards. The D-seal certification process involved a rigorous voluntary evaluation of Trust Stamp’s data handling practices and security measures. The achievement follows the company’s recent patent for cross-platform biometric interoperability, further establishing its position as an industry leader in secure identity solutions.
Scott Francis, Group Chief Technology Officer at Trust Stamp, emphasized the certification’s alignment with the company’s core mission. “Receiving the D-seal certification underscores our commitment to security, privacy, and ethical data practices—values that are deeply embedded in our mission to break the cycle of vendor lock-in,” he said. “The D-seal’s emphasis on IT security and responsible data usage aligns with our approach to interoperability, ensuring that identity solutions remain secure, privacy-preserving, but also interoperable.”
The certification is particularly significant given Trust Stamp’s ongoing work in enhancing digital identity security across various sectors. The company has been actively expanding its presence in Europe, having previously established research operations in Malta to strengthen its biometric technology capabilities.
Francis also highlighted the company’s recent technological advancement in facial biometrics interoperability: “As interoperability in facial biometrics is non-existent today our recent patent addresses that gap, as it allows users to obtain and compare biometric samples across different vendors. By creating an open-format standard, we empower organizations to implement secure and scalable identity solutions.”
The certification’s impact extends beyond commercial applications, particularly in the humanitarian sector, where organizations have traditionally prioritized efficiency and fraud prevention over privacy concerns. Trust Stamp’s adherence to D-seal standards could help transform data protection practices for vulnerable populations, addressing longstanding concerns about data breaches and surveillance risks.
