TokenWorks has unveiled the AgeVisor 3, its latest all-in-one identity verification device designed to streamline age and ID checks in high-traffic commercial settings. The company is pitching AgeVisor 3 as a major upgrade in ID scanning technology, combining support for e-passports, mobile IDs, and traditional driver’s licenses in a single, durable unit.
Integrated Scanning for a Changing ID Landscape
“It would take multiple machines to do what the AgeVisor 3 does in one,” said Daniel Greene, Director of Operations at TokenWorks. “It verifies e-passport chips, scans mobile IDs, and captures high-resolution images—all in a water- and scratch-resistant frame built for real-world use.”
The AgeVisor 3 features support for mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs), a capability that reflects the growing adoption of digital identification across the U.S. States like Georgia and Iowa have already launched mDLs within major mobile wallet platforms, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded nationwide acceptance of mobile IDs at airport security checkpoints. These developments make it increasingly important for businesses to adopt systems capable of verifying both physical and digital credentials.
In addition to mDL scanning, the AgeVisor 3 can authenticate e-passports by reading their embedded chips. This feature aligns with the global transition to chip-enabled travel documents, as seen in India’s recent nationwide rollout of e-passports. Such passports now follow international standards for storing biometric and identity data, and are issued by more than 170 countries worldwide as of 2025.
Durability and Performance for High-Traffic Businesses
Built for demanding environments, the AgeVisor 3 includes a high-resolution color scanner, a front-insertion Honeywell barcode engine, and a rugged housing resistant to water and scratches. These features are tailored to businesses such as bars, nightclubs, casinos, and liquor stores—establishments that require fast, reliable age verification systems to meet legal compliance and reduce customer friction.
TokenWorks, founded in 1998, has long specialized in ID scanning and age verification technologies. The AgeVisor 3 builds on that legacy, combining hardware reliability with flexible ID format support. Its release comes at a time when identity verification is becoming more complex due to evolving compliance rules and the rise of digital credentials.
The company notes that the AgeVisor 3’s versatility makes it suitable not only for traditional use cases but also for future-proofing operations as more jurisdictions embrace mobile and chip-based identification systems. As regulatory frameworks and consumer preferences shift, businesses face mounting pressure to keep pace with secure and efficient verification solutions.
