Token, a biometric authentication company based in Rochester, New York, has announced the launch of its new enterprise security product line, Token BioKey. Designed to meet the growing need for phishing-resistant authentication solutions, the FIDO-compliant security keys offer a biometric-based alternative to traditional multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods.
Biometric Keys with Enterprise-Grade Capabilities
The Token BioKey lineup includes two models: a USB-only version and the BioKey Plus, which supports Bluetooth and NFC for wireless operation. Both models incorporate a capacitive fingerprint sensor for user verification, paired with an EAL5+ certified secure element that stores credentials securely. The Plus model is equipped with an internal battery to enable wireless use without a physical connection to the device.
The new product line is being positioned as a response to the rising threat of identity fraud and cyberattacks targeting enterprise environments. Recent research has highlighted a 44 percent increase in identity fraud, underscoring the urgency for stronger authentication protocols. While that specific figure may not appear in Token’s own materials, it aligns with broader industry concerns about vulnerabilities in legacy authentication systems.
Management Console, FIDO Compliance, and Upgradability
The BioKey products follow the FIDO authentication standard, which has seen growing adoption among government agencies and private-sector organizations. The USDA has implemented FIDO-based login systems to defend against phishing attempts, reflecting a broader industry shift toward passwordless authentication protocols.
Token’s solution includes support for centralized management through the Token Authenticator Console. The enterprise dashboard allows administrators to provision users, configure security settings, assign keys, and monitor usage. The devices are field-upgradable via firmware updates, enabling them to respond to evolving cybersecurity threats without hardware replacements.
In addition to management tools, the biometric security layer provides significant protection in the event of key loss or theft. Since the device requires a registered fingerprint to operate, unauthorized users are unable to access systems simply by possessing the key. This addresses security risks associated with SIM swapping and MFA fatigue attacks like prompt bombing.
The Token BioKey and BioKey Plus are now available for enterprise customers. Organizations interested in the solution can request product demonstrations through Token’s official website.
