TMT ID Raises £30M to Expand Mobile Identity and Fraud Defense

TMT ID, a Romania-based mobile data and identity-intelligence provider, has secured £30 million in growth funding from BGF to expand its digital-trust and fraud-prevention services, with a focus on strengthening its U.S. presence. The funding round marks the company’s first institutional investment. BGF describes TMT ID as serving more than 260 clients across industries such as technology, financial services, insurance, and e-commerce.

According to BGF and EU-Startups, TMT ID’s data network spans more than 200 countries and territories and covers approximately three billion phone numbers. Its systems perform over 100 million daily checks through direct integrations with mobile network operators, providing signals used for real-time identity verification, authentication, SIM-swap and port-out fraud detection, and transaction-level risk assessment. The company’s products also help organizations comply with rising regulatory obligations surrounding age verification and online safety, including new requirements introduced by the UK Online Safety Act in July 2025.

The company has reported strong growth, with overall business expanding about thirty percent year-over-year and identity/fraud product revenue rising roughly eighty percent. BGF notes that broader market conditions, including an estimated one trillion US dollars in global fraud losses during 2024 and a doubling forecast for the age-verification market, are driving increased demand for mobile-derived identity intelligence.

TMT ID was founded in 2016 by John Wilkinson and Fergal Parkinson and expanded its technical capabilities through its 2023 acquisition of Phronesis Technologies. As part of the new funding, industry veteran David Quantrell will join the board as non-executive chair. BGF emphasizes TMT ID’s potential to scale particularly in the United States, positioning the company within a rapidly expanding segment of digital identity and fraud prevention.
