Suprema Partners with Hyundai Robotics to Build AI-Secured Robot-Ready Residential Complexes

March 24, 2026

Suprema has signed a three-party memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB and Hyundai Engineering & Construction to develop residential complexes where service robots and human residents share a unified AI security infrastructure.

The agreement brings together three distinct capabilities: Suprema’s AI-powered access control and biometric authentication, Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB’s autonomous robot platforms and Robotics Total Solution (RTS) framework, and Hyundai E&C’s architectural expertise and residential development pipeline. The collaboration is structured to proceed in phases, beginning with proof-of-concept testing before moving toward commercialization.

The central technical challenge the partnership is addressing is straightforward but non-trivial: service robots performing delivery, guidance, and patrol tasks inside residential buildings need to move freely through spaces that also have security boundaries. A robot that cannot pass through an access-controlled door is useless; a robot that can pass through any door defeats the purpose of access control. The solution requires the security layer to understand the difference between a resident, a visitor, and an autonomous machine operating on behalf of residents — and to enforce appropriate rules for each.

Suprema will serve as system integrator, connecting robot platforms with building security systems through its BioStar X unified security platform and its AI facial authentication technology. Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB will handle robot service design for residential environments and lead the establishment of technical standards for autonomous operation. Hyundai E&C will contribute robot-friendly architectural designs and provide pilot sites through its residential development projects, effectively serving as both the demand-generation engine and the real-world testing ground for the collaboration.

“As service robots begin to perform delivery, guidance, and patrol tasks throughout residential spaces, an AI-powered security infrastructure becomes essential to ensure that robots and residents can coexist safely under unified security rules,” said Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema. “Based on our AI-powered unified security platform BioStar X and Suprema’s proven biometric and mobile access authentication technologies, we will work with Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB and Hyundai E&C to lead a new era of residential security powered by robotics and AI, expanding from proven domestic references to the global residential security market.”

Ri Goon Choi, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor and Kia Robotics LAB, framed the deal in architectural terms: “A truly advanced residential complex based on service robots can achieve competitiveness only when robotics, architecture, and security systems are designed as one integrated infrastructure.”

The MOU reflects a broader shift in how access control vendors are positioning themselves as physical environments grow more automated. Suprema has been active in expanding its platform footprint: the company was named a strategic partner by AMAG Technology in late 2025, and earned CE RED cybersecurity certification for its biometric access devices – a credential that will matter increasingly as residential deployments face scrutiny over device-level security standards.
