Sindh Schools Launch Biometric App to Track Teacher Attendance and Payroll

The Sindh Education Department has announced plans to modernize its educational administration through a new mobile application that will automate teacher attendance tracking, payroll management, and student enrollment records.

The new application will incorporate biometric verification and geofencing technologies to ensure accurate attendance tracking and prevent proxy attendance. Teachers will be required to mark their attendance digitally through the app while physically present on school premises, replacing traditional manual attendance registers.

This latest initiative builds upon Sindh’s previous efforts to implement biometric attendance systems in colleges, demonstrating the province’s continued commitment to leveraging technology for improved educational administration.

The implementation aligns with broader digital transformation initiatives across Pakistan, including the recent launch of the Digital Nation Act, which aims to establish a comprehensive national digital identity system. The education department’s mobile application will contribute to this larger ecosystem of digital government services.

The department plans to roll out the application in phases, beginning with pilot testing in selected schools before expanding to all educational institutions across the province. This measured approach will allow for system refinements based on user feedback and operational requirements.

Officials expect the new system to significantly reduce teacher absenteeism, improve payroll accuracy, and provide better data management capabilities for student enrollment. The digital transformation is anticipated to enhance both administrative efficiency and educational outcomes through increased accountability and streamlined processes.
