The government of Sindh, a province in southern Pakistan, has signed an agreement with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to connect all provincial education boards to its secure digital system. The agreement combines academic-record digitization with plans to make verified educational qualifications accessible through the Pak ID mobile application.
Sindh Minister for Universities Ismail Rahoo said the integration would help prevent fake degrees and proxy examinations, in which someone takes a test on another candidate’s behalf. He also said the connection would improve examination transparency and support the digitization of academic records across the province’s boards.
The signing ceremony brought together Rahoo, NADRA’s director general and the chairmen of the educational boards. NADRA’s director general said the authority would provide the integration facility to all of the boards free of charge.
The agreement covers both the institutions responsible for educational records and the application through which students are expected to access verified credentials. Students will be able to retrieve their verified educational degrees through Pak ID as the arrangement is implemented, extending the app’s role beyond displaying a national identity credential.
Pak ID already supports a digital national identity card accepted for passport identity checks. That option is available at Directorate General of Immigration and Passports offices in Pakistan and Pakistani missions abroad, giving applicants an alternative when they do not have their physical Computerized National Identity Card with them.
For passport checks, users select View Digital ID and then Digital Card in the application. NADRA manages the underlying national identity system and Pak ID, while the immigration authority remains responsible for processing and issuing passports.
The education agreement also follows the launch of Nishan Pakistan, NADRA’s centralized platform for identity verification and related services. The authority described that platform as a one-window service intended to standardize authentication across public and private sector use cases.
In Sindh, the agreement provides for connecting education boards to NADRA’s digital infrastructure and giving students a mobile channel for accessing verified qualifications. The provincial government’s stated objectives center on the integrity of academic records and examinations, alongside easier verification of educational credentials.
