Signicat’s ReadID service has been certified under the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework and added to the government’s register of digital identity and attribute services.
The register lists ReadID in the component and orchestration roles. Its certificate took effect on June 29, 2026 and runs through June 29, 2029, subject to the framework’s continuing audit and compliance requirements.
Signicat says the certified service can support digital identity checks used in Right to Work, Right to Rent and Disclosure and Barring Service processes. Those schemes allow participating organizations to use approved digital checks when establishing employment eligibility, tenancy eligibility or identity for a criminal-record check.
ReadID uses near-field communication to read the secure chip in a passport, identity card or residence permit. It checks the document’s cryptographic protections and retrieves the identity information and official facial image stored by the issuer. Signicat offers both cloud-based processing and a client-only version in which chip verification takes place on the user’s phone.
The certification follows Signicat’s acquisition of ReadID developer Inverid. The transaction brought the Dutch company’s NFC verification technology into Signicat’s broader platform for identity proofing, authentication and electronic signing.
Component certification covers a service used within a larger identity process, while orchestration certification addresses the layer that coordinates checks and passes results between participating systems. Another provider, Select ID, was previously listed as a certified orchestration service, illustrating how the register distinguishes the roles that can be assembled into a complete verification journey.
The public register is maintained by the Office for Digital Identities and Attributes and lets buyers confirm whether a service holds a valid certificate. It lists ReadID’s role types and certificate dates but does not provide pricing, customer references or commercial terms. Certification is valid for three years, with regular auditing and recertification required to maintain a service’s status.
The government has recently updated the framework under the Digital Verification Services name. ReadID’s listing gives Signicat a recognized position in that regulated market as organizations select certified components for employment, rental and background-check workflows.
