Seon Rolls Out Configurable AML Search Profiles and Richer Watchlist Screening

Risk-tech company Seon has introduced a set of updates to its anti-money-laundering tools that give compliance teams more control over how they search and screen customers against sanctions and other high-risk lists. The latest release adds configurable “AML Search Profiles,” expanded data sources, and more granular controls over false positive management and screening intensity, reflecting growing regulatory and operational pressure on firms to tune AML workflows to their specific risk exposure.

Under the new model, AML Search Profiles allow organizations to pre-define search strategies for different customer segments or use cases, adjusting parameters such as which lists to prioritize, how name-matching fuzziness is handled, and how aggressively to surface potential matches. Seon says this can help institutions align screening behavior with internal risk appetites and external regulatory requirements, while also reducing alert fatigue for compliance analysts.

The update also brings broader coverage of sanctions lists, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and adverse media sources into Seon’s environment, along with interface and workflow refinements intended to help teams investigate and disposition alerts more efficiently. These additions sit alongside the company’s existing fraud prevention and transaction monitoring tools, which use device, behavioral, and historical data points to generate risk scores for digital interactions.

For financial institutions and fintechs, the new capabilities arrive amid sustained regulatory scrutiny over AML program effectiveness and the handling of high-risk customers. Seon is positioning the release as a way for compliance teams to move away from one-size-fits-all screening and toward more contextual, data-driven controls that can be adapted across products, regions, or partner channels without standing up separate tool stacks.
