SEON Launches AI-Powered Identity Verification System

Budapest-based fraud prevention platform SEON has launched an AI-powered identity verification solution integrating ID verification, liveness detection, and proof of address checks into a unified fraud prevention and AML compliance platform. The solution leverages more than 900 real-time fraud signals to assess not only whether an ID is authentic, but whether the individual can be confidently approved based on combined identity and risk signals.

Addressing the Risk Context Gap

The launch is meant to address a critical gap in traditional identity verification tools, which validate documents but lack risk context to determine legitimacy. As the industry has seen with AI-powered fraud attempts surging 210% in 2024, document authentication alone no longer provides sufficient protection. By combining core KYC checks with live fraud intelligence, SEON aims to filter out both high-quality fakes and legitimate documents misused by fraudsters. The consolidation eliminates workflow silos across fraud, compliance, and risk teams while reducing operational overhead.

The new solution includes global government-issued ID document verification, biometric liveness checks to detect deepfakes and presentation attacks, proof of address verification, and optional government database checks. Organizations can customize workflows based on customer segment, risk profile, or regulatory requirements through a single dashboard consolidating identity and fraud signals.

Targeting Regulated Gaming Sector

The initial market focus targets European gaming and betting operators facing strict regulatory requirements. The regulated gambling sector has increasingly demanded robust identity verification for compliance, with operators requiring solutions that balance fraud prevention with frictionless user onboarding. SEON built the solution on its existing fraud detection infrastructure, which already processes 900-plus real-time fraud signals across customer interactions.

The platform is designed to accelerate legitimate user onboarding while improving fraud detection, reducing wasted KYC spend, and enabling faster approval decisions. Organizations implementing the solution can make risk-based determinations during the verification process rather than treating all identity checks as binary pass-fail decisions.

“When you combine AI-powered document checks with real-time fraud intelligence, you stop attacks earlier, reduce wasted KYC spend and make faster approval decisions,” said Tamas Kadar, CEO and Co-Founder of SEON.

The technology integrates biometric verification capabilities with SEON’s broader fraud prevention ecosystem, which serves organizations across financial services, e-commerce, and regulated industries requiring both identity verification and transaction monitoring capabilities.
