Electronic Identification (eID) specialist Elyctis has announced that its Elyctis ID BOX One readers have been chosen by Senegal’s Couverture Maladie Universelle (ANACMU) — the country’s Universal Healthcare Coverage that aims to provide health coverage to all Senegalese citizens regardless of income level — as part of the digitization of its healthcare services.
The ANACMU program will provide Senegalese citizens with an ICAO-compliant electronic ID card containing their biographic information as well as their biometric data from two fingerprints.
Citizens will then be able to approach an Elyctis ID BOX One reader that will scan their card along with their fingerprints in order to authenticate their identity based on the biometric data presented on the card. Once authentication is confirmed, the system then connects to both public and private insurance databases in order to confirm the patient’s rights, before presenting a healthcare invoice to the properly identified insurance company.
“With the Elyctis ID BOX One readers, we can be sure the ICAO-compliant national ID cards will be read seamlessly,” said Mouhamed Mahi Sy, ICT Director of ANACMU. “This way the whole operation of our patient identification and authentication process will be smooth and bring the best service to all Senegalese citizens.”
A total of 550 Elyctis readers are in the process of being deployed in more than 200 healthcare centers and 37 hospitals across Senegal. The ANACMU anticipates that by the end of 2021 every Senegalese citizen will be able to benefit from greater access to healthcare coverage as a result of the program.
“We are proud to have been chosen as a supplier for the ANACMU in Senegal in an international call for tender,” said Alexandre Joly, Elyctis CEO. “Thanks to Elyctis readers, Senegalese citizens will be sure they will benefit from the healthcare services they are entitled to receive.”
