RealNetworks is looking to further drive sales of its SAFR facial recognition solution with the appointment of a new executive. The company has named Brad Donaldson as its Vice President of Computer Vision.
Donaldson comes to SAFR from a previous executive position with AV Costar, a California-based firm that offers IP camera and video surveillance technologies. Donaldson served as VP of Product Development for the organization from 2012 to 2020.
Before that, Donaldson was a Senior Consultant for Security Industry Services from 2009 to 2012. He had served as Director of Engineering for GE Security’s Video Division from 2003 to 2009, and as a Mechanical Engineer with ATS Automation Tooling Systems before that. Donaldson also served in the Navy in the earliest stage of his career.
In his new role with RealNetworks, Donaldson will be tasked with driving the growth of the company’s computer vision solutions that feature facial recognition as a core technology.
“Brad’s deep product expertise, commitment, and fluency in the physical security market immediately bolster SAFR’s leadership position,” said RealNetworks President and COO Mike Ensing. “The expansive range of opportunities for our SAFR product line is nicely paired with Brad’s customer focused approach and demonstrated track record of driving growth.”
Donaldson’s appointment comes after that of another new VP announced in July, in that case as part of an expansion effort into the Middle East market. It also arrives after major contract wins with the U.S. Air Force announced in August.
“I’m delighted to join RealNetworks at this remarkable stage in the Company’s computer vision journey,” commented Donaldson. “The SAFR team has consistently developed high quality solutions and demonstrated flexibility, and responsiveness that is readily aligned with pressing market needs and long-term opportunities for innovative new products.”
