Robo.ai, in partnership with UAE-based digital asset custodian Changer.ae, has unveiled “Roboy339,” a smart vehicle equipped with a device-level digital wallet. The launch took place at the TOKEN2049 conference in Dubai and marks a step toward enabling autonomous devices to act as economic agents.
The vehicle’s embedded wallet can conduct payments in real time for services including tolls, charging, maintenance, and leasing. It can also process income, providing a practical example of embedded finance within a non-financial product. Robo.ai Chief Executive Benjamin Zhai said the project demonstrates how a vehicle can function as both a financial account and a digital identity, linking the unique VIN number to a verifiable on-chain wallet.
The system is supported by Changer.ae, a regulated custodian under the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) framework. The companies said regulatory compliance differentiates the initiative from conceptual Web3 experiments and is designed to support enterprise adoption. Robo.ai has also invested in Arkreen, a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) platform, to manage asset tokenization and transactions.
By linking a physical asset’s unique identifier with a digital identity and wallet, the project aims to create an auditable and trusted framework for autonomous participation in financial ecosystems. The approach could extend to other devices such as eVTOL aircraft, robotaxis, and logistics fleets.
Proponents say such models could reduce administrative overhead for asset-heavy industries by allowing autonomous devices to manage payments, service costs, and financial reporting. They may also enable new structures such as fractional ownership and usage-based insurance.
