Ripple Acquires Custody Firm Palisade to Expand Institutional Digital Wallet Capabilities

Ripple has acquired Palisade, a digital asset wallet and custody company, in a move to bolster its institutional-grade services. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands Ripple’s institutional arm, Ripple Custody, formed after its 2023 purchase of Swiss custody-tech firm Metaco. While the Metaco-powered platform primarily sold custody technology to established banks that already operate as licensed custodians, the Palisade acquisition allows Ripple to become the custodian service for a different clientele: fintechs, crypto-native firms, and corporates.

Palisade brings two core components: a licensed digital asset custody operation in France and a scalable wallet-as-a-service platform built on a zero-trust architecture with multi-party computation (MPC) for key management and multi-chain support, including XRPL, Ethereum, and Solana.

Ripple President Monica Long said corporates are poised to drive the next wave of crypto adoption. She framed the acquisition as combining a bank-grade vault for long-term asset storage with Palisade’s fast, lightweight wallet—creating an end-to-end provider for needs from long-term storage to real-time global payments and treasury management.

The deal is part of Ripple’s 2025 investment streak reportedly totaling about $4 billion, including: Hidden Road (now Ripple Prime) for $1.25 billion; Rail for $200 million; GTreasury for $1 billion; and Palisade (undisclosed amount).
