Regula Named Innovation Leader in KuppingerCole Identity Verification Report

Regula, a specialist in forensic devices and identity verification technologies, has been named an Innovation Leader in KuppingerCole’s Leadership Compass for Identity Verification 2025. This marks Regula’s debut in the report, which is widely regarded as a benchmark analysis for evaluating global ID verification providers.

Recognized Strengths in a Rapidly Growing Market

KuppingerCole projects that the identity verification market will grow from $18.4 billion in 2025 to $50.07 billion by 2030. That expansion is being driven by rising rates of identity fraud, increasingly stringent compliance requirements, and growing demand for frictionless onboarding experiences. In this context, Regula’s recognition as an Innovation Leader highlights its ability to anticipate and respond to market needs with advanced, scalable solutions.

According to KuppingerCole’s analysts, Regula’s standout features include its fully in-house R&D team, forensic-grade authentication technologies, extensive global document template library, and sophisticated liveness detection mechanisms. The report noted that Regula has demonstrated a strong commitment to both customer-requested updates and forward-looking innovation, key criteria for Innovation Leader status.

Technology Highlights and Recent Developments

In May 2025, Regula introduced one-click data masking to its Forensic Studio platform, a move aimed at strengthening privacy protection and simplifying regulatory compliance. While similar functionality had previously existed in Regula’s SDK, this rollout marked the first time the capability was fully integrated into the Studio interface.

The company also deepened its impact through a high-speed integration with REACT’s ID Wallet system. The collaboration reduced onboarding time to just 30 seconds, showcasing the scalability and responsiveness of Regula’s biometric and document verification engines. Separately, Regula’s biometric technology was deployed by iCard to enhance digital wallet security in more than 30 countries, further demonstrating the global applicability of its solutions.

Regula’s products are built on over 30 years of forensic research and development. The company maintains what it calls the world’s largest document template library, with more than 15,000 document types cataloged. Its technologies are now used by over 1,000 organizations and more than 80 border control authorities worldwide.

The 2025 Leadership Compass includes other well-known identity verification providers. Daon, for example, has confirmed its placement as an Overall, Product, Market, and Innovation Leader in the same report. While the full matrix has not been released publicly, prior editions have included firms such as Entrust, Jumio, Veriff, IDEMIA, Thales, iProov, and Mitek—many of which are expected to appear again this year.
