Regula says Uber is expanding the use of its document authentication tools across a nationwide driver verification network in Poland, adding mobile document readers so identity checks can run outside fixed verification centers. The rollout extends a partnership in which Uber has used Regula’s technology to confirm driver identities as it grows into more Polish cities.
The expansion adds a portable device to an existing center-based setup. Uber already runs Regula 7029 document verification workstations in its verification centers, which examine identity documents under ultraviolet, infrared, and white light to detect forged or altered credentials and create auditable records. The newly added Regula 7320 mobile document readers bring the same checks into the field, allowing verification at temporary points or in new locations that lack full infrastructure.
Both devices run the same software stack, which Regula says keeps verification consistent across locations. Powered by Regula’s Document Reader SDK, they perform automated authenticity checks under multiple light sources and cross-verify data from a document’s visual zone, RFID chip, and machine-readable zone, along with face matching. The project is implemented with Regula’s local partner, Korporacja Wschód, which supports deployment and integration across Uber’s verification network.
For Uber, the goal is uniform checks as the network scales. “As we grow into new cities, it is critical that every driver undergoes the same thorough verification process,” said Iwona Kruk, Head of Comms at Uber CEE, adding that Regula’s tools help the company achieve a consistent verification level at scale while keeping the process efficient. Regula frames the work as part of broader efforts to harden identity checks on gig platforms, where larger verification volumes raise the risk of document fraud slipping through.
The deployment adds to Regula’s growing footprint in identity verification, a business the company says has reached a user base of 240 million.
