First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) has partnered with digital identity verification provider Prove to modernize onboarding for its co-branded credit cards. Announced on August 27, 2025, the initiative will integrate Prove’s Pre-Fill identity verification solution to create a secure, digital-first application process that reduces friction and strengthens fraud prevention measures.
Prove Pre-Fill uses device and phone number signals to confirm identity, automatically populating application forms with validated data. This approach shortens the time required to complete an application while improving accuracy and security. The technology also incorporates persistent identity recognition across device changes and seamless key authentication backed by cryptographic protections.
According to Prove, financial institutions using Pre-Fill have seen onboarding times improve by up to 79 percent, application abandonment rates decrease by 35 percent, and fraud reduced by more than 75 percent. These results reflect the solution’s focus on delivering a mobile-first identity verification process that balances convenience with compliance.
Statements from FNBO and Prove
“…rolls out the red carpet for customers…” and “…turns onboarding into a growth engine and competitive advantage,” said Scott Bonnell, Chief Revenue Officer at Prove.
“We’re committed to creating simple and intuitive experiences for our customers,” said Brianne Stephan, Director, Global Project Management and Segment Capabilities at FNBO. She added that the partnership will help the bank “grow our co-branded card portfolio while mitigating risk.”
Context and recent developments
FNBO, one of the largest privately held banks in the United States, is leveraging this technology upgrade to strengthen its position in the digital financial services market. The move aligns with a broader industry trend toward mobile-first, high-assurance digital identity verification, particularly in consumer banking and credit issuance.
Earlier in 2025, Prove expanded its product capabilities with the acquisition of Portabl, a company specializing in reusable digital identity technology. This acquisition supports Prove’s goal of building interoperable, reusable identity solutions for both financial services and other regulated sectors.
As digital identity verification gains prominence globally, such implementations are becoming central to streamlining customer experiences and mitigating fraud. Financial institutions are increasingly turning to solutions that can verify identity quickly and accurately while maintaining security standards in line with evolving regulations.
