Proof and Superfluid Link Agent Wallet Transactions to Verified Humans

Proof has partnered with Superfluid Finance to supply verifiable identity credentials for Superfluid Wallet, a wallet designed for people and their AI agents to use together. The integration connects agent-initiated transactions to a verified individual or business while keeping the human owner in control of the wallet’s keys.

Superfluid’s Human-Factor Authentication model lets an agent propose an action and a person approve it under defined policies. Proof supplies credentials intended to establish who that person is, rather than treating possession of a wallet or a valid transaction signature as sufficient evidence of the person’s identity.

The wallet also implements x401, Proof’s open protocol for identity challenges over HTTP. The protocol allows an online service to request evidence of identity and authorization as part of an interaction with an agent.

The companies are working on two uses for the integration. For buyers, an agent would carry a reusable credential that a merchant or service provider can check to confirm there is a verified person behind a request. Proof says this can avoid repeating identity checks already completed at an assurance level appropriate for the transaction.

For merchants, the proposed process runs in the opposite direction. Before transferring funds, an agent could request a credential establishing that the receiving organization is genuine and that the person or system acting for it has the necessary authority.

Proof says its identity proofing meets the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Identity Assurance Level 2. The company operates an audited public certificate authority and binds digital signatures to the transactions they authorize. Its existing services cover transactions in areas including real estate, retirement and wealth management.

The partnership follows Proof’s launch of a portable digital identity credential for banks. That service issues a digital certificate after identity verification and supports selective disclosure, allowing holders to share only the attributes needed for a particular decision.

Proof also joined the FIDO Alliance to contribute to AI agent identity standards earlier this year. Its work in that area centers on connecting an agent’s actions to a verified human principal. With Superfluid, the company is applying that approach to both sides of a wallet transaction: the person authorizing the payment and the party receiving it.
