Prometeo and Jumio Aim to Strengthen Biometric Identity Checks and Account Validation Across Latin America

Prometeo and Jumio have announced a strategic partnership aimed at advancing biometric identity verification and account validation across Latin America. The collaboration seeks to simplify digital onboarding for financial services and bolster defenses against fraud in a region where cybercrime and identity theft continue to rise.

Bringing Biometrics and Banking Networks Together

The partnership combines Jumio’s advanced biometric verification technology with Prometeo’s connections to more than 1,200 financial institutions in 11 countries, representing one of the largest banking networks in Latin America. Through this integration, financial organizations can confirm account ownership and authenticate users via biometrics in a single, streamlined process, reducing the complexity and delays often associated with traditional identity checks.

“Connecting our best-in-class biometric verification technology with one of the largest banking networks in Latin America not only delivers a more complete solution to the market, it also raises the bar for security and efficiency,” said Pilar Pereira, Strategic Alliances Manager for Latin America at Jumio. “This alliance integrates advanced AI capabilities, data analytics, and user behavior interpretation, elements that truly make a difference and allow us to offer a robust, intelligent solution designed to tackle one of the region’s biggest challenges.”

Addressing Emerging Threats and Market Needs

The joint solution comes amid growing security concerns across Latin America, including recent revelations by firms like iProov about dark web marketplaces selling verified digital identities from the region. By implementing more sophisticated fraud prevention tools and biometric checks, Prometeo and Jumio aim to help financial institutions remain compliant with both local and international Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations while staying ahead of evolving threats.

The solution is designed to be modular and adaptable, allowing businesses of all sizes to tailor its features to their specific security requirements. This flexibility is increasingly vital as digital financial services continue to expand across Latin America, demanding security tools that can evolve alongside rapid market growth and shifting regulatory landscapes.
