Precision Biometric India Pvt. Ltd. has announced the launch of what it describes as the country’s first domestically manufactured Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) tokens incorporating FIPS 140-3 certified secure elements. The release marks a milestone for India’s “Make in India” initiative and the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat program, which emphasize technological self-reliance in critical infrastructure.
Two Devices Introduced
The company has introduced two products under the InnaITKey brand: the PK32XX USB DSC Token and the PK33XX NFC Tap-and-Sign DSC Smart Card. Both are designed and manufactured in India, with Precision Biometric stating that no components are sourced from border-sharing countries. The move is intended to strengthen supply-chain security while supporting domestic manufacturing goals.
The PK32XX comes in a compact USB form factor, while the PK33XX is a credit card-sized device with NFC capability, allowing users to complete digital signatures through a contactless tap. Both devices are positioned for secure use across government, banking, enterprise contracting, and healthcare platforms that rely on digital signing.
Security Features and Certifications
According to the company, the tokens integrate secure elements certified under the FIPS 140-3 standard, the latest global benchmark for cryptographic modules. Precision Biometric says this ensures compliance with international requirements for algorithm validation, entropy testing, and protections against side-channel or fault-injection attacks. The devices are also described as incorporating Common Criteria EAL 6+ certified modules, aligning with high-assurance security standards recognized worldwide.
Both tokens comply with the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) specifications, ensuring they work within India’s established Certificate Authority infrastructure. This compatibility allows them to be used immediately for secure logins, electronic filings, and digital contracts, while also supporting advanced cryptographic needs for future applications.
Domestic Digital Sovereignty Push
In a statement accompanying the launch, company founder and CEO Mathew Chacko said the adoption of FIPS 140-3 secure elements “unites global best practices in cryptography with full compliance to India’s CCA guidelines.” He added that the products are intended to deliver “security and trustworthy assurance for enterprises and government agencies in today’s digital era.”
The launch comes at a time when India is expanding biometric and digital identity systems across public and private services. By manufacturing DSC tokens domestically, Precision Biometric positions itself as a contributor to national data sovereignty priorities and to reducing reliance on imported security hardware.
While independent verification of certifications such as FIPS 140-3 and Common Criteria EAL 6+ will depend on publicly available listings and audits, the company’s announcement highlights the broader direction of India’s digital infrastructure policies: integrating international standards into domestically produced technology. As demand for secure digital signing grows across government portals, financial services, and enterprise systems, domestically made security tokens could play an important role in strengthening both user trust and national resilience.
