Precise Biometrics Connects Biometric Access Control Directly to Visitor Management System

Swedish identity firm Precise Biometrics is strengthening its Precise Visit by EastCoast visitor management system by adding new, direct access control capabilities. The announcement details an integration that creates a seamless connection between the digital visitor check-in journey and a building’s physical access control hardware, such as secure doors and turnstiles.

This move solves the “last mile” problem that has long plagued visitor management. Most digital systems (typically an iPad at a front desk) are “air-gapped” from the building’s actual security. A visitor checks in, but a human receptionist must still manually unlock a door or issue a temporary physical keycard.

Precise Biometrics is closing this air gap. The new integration allows a visitor, after completing their digital check-in, to use their verified identity as their key. The system supports a multi-modal approach, allowing visitors to gain door access directly via biometric authentication (facial or palm recognition) or by using a QR code on their mobile device. This automation provides a massive administrative efficiency gain for building managers and is a critical enabler for modern use cases like unmanned front desks, multi-tenant environments, and coworking spaces.

The company’s multi-modal strategy is particularly astute. A biometrics-only system would inevitably face pushback from visitors concerned about privacy or usability. By offering a QR code as a parallel option, Precise Biometrics overcomes this adoption friction. It allows a building manager to offer a choice between a high-security, touchless biometric experience and a high-convenience, privacy-preserving QR code, making the product far more marketable to a diverse range of tenants and visitors.

The update also integrates with major physical access control systems including RCO, Integra, ARX, Genetec, and Avigilon. Precise recently announced a strategic partnership with Avigilon, a Motorola Security Solutions company, allowing the firm to expand its reach through Avigilon’s extensive partner network.
