The combined solution uses Smile ID’s biometric authentication and AI-powered fraud detection to provide real-time security during login, transactions, and account recovery. It incorporates Smile ID’s Enhanced SmartSelfie technology, recently launched to fight digital fraud in Africa through dynamic liveness checks.
Banks adopting the integrated platform can reduce costs, strengthen security, and improve customer experience. The partnership follows Smile ID’s recent milestone of processing 200 million identity verifications across Africa in 11 months.
“Our partnership with Plumery marks an important step in advancing digital transformation and financial security across Africa,” said Dustin Strydom, VP of Commercial at Smile ID.
Ben Goldin, Founder & CEO of Plumery, highlighted the focus on secure customer onboarding: “At Plumery, we help financial institutions deliver seamless experiences to their clients, starting with fast, simple onboarding. Working with Smile ID allows us to provide secure, efficient digital banking solutions to customers across the region.”
The partnership follows Smile ID’s recent work with Mastercard to improve merchant onboarding across more than 50 African countries, expanding the company’s role in Africa’s financial services sector.
