Ping Identity Solutions Get Formal DHS Approval

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has granted formal approval to a pair of Ping Identity access management solutions. The agency has specifically added the PingFederate and PingAccess offerings to its Approved Products List (APL) for Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM), a designation that should make it easier for Ping Identity to pick up clients in the government sector moving forward.

As the name would suggest, the APL is a curated list of products that the DHS has vetted to make sure they meet the government’s strict access management requirements. Other agencies can then purchase products from that list knowing that they will be able to use those products to comply with the latest public security regulations.

Approved CDM solutions will also be interoperable with other access management programs. As a result, PingFederate and PingAccess will be able to recognize credentials issued by other agencies, and enable a secure and consistent access experience across multiple departments.

Both solutions can be integrated with an organization’s existing infrastructure and authentication factors. PingFederate is a centralized authentication platform that offers single sign-on and adaptive authentication capabilities, while PingAccess offers risk-based web and API access control.

“Solutions found on the APL are highly reliable procurement options for federal agencies because they have already been vetted and confirmed to align with CDM’s technical requirements,” said Ping Identity Founder and CEO Andre Durand. “By joining the APL, Ping Identity makes it even easier for agencies to modernize, especially now that ICAM is defined as ‘critical software’ by NIST following the May 12 Executive Order.”

The Executive Order in question gave federal agencies 180 days to implement multi-factor authentication and encryption, and was issued in an effort to improve the government’s overall cybersecurity posture. Since then, Ping Identity has acquired the behavioral biometrics company SecuredTouch, and bolstered PingFederate with Silverfort’s risk analytic technology.
