Philippines Launches Digital Senior Citizen ID via eGovPH Super App

The Philippine government has launched the Digital National Senior Citizens ID (NSCID), a new credential designed to give older citizens streamlined digital access to benefits and services. The rollout was led by the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and took place at The Manila Hotel and marks another milestone in the country’s digital transformation efforts.

Integrated Access Through eGovPH

The NSCID is now available in the eGovPH Super App, the national mobile platform for government services. Through the app, registered senior citizens can access entitlements such as healthcare coverage, transportation discounts, and retail privileges without the need for in-person visits to government offices.

eGovPH already supports services from the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Pag-IBIG Fund, and the national ID system. The addition of the NSCID provides a secure, senior-specific credential within the app’s integrated service environment.

Reaching Millions of Seniors

There are about 9 million senior citizens in the Philippines – roughly eight percent of the population – eligible for the new digital ID, according to the Philippine Information Agency. Officials say the system is intended to simplify benefit claims, reduce bureaucratic delays, and expand the reach of public services for the elderly.

The NSCID supports the “Bagong Pilipinas” governance vision and the administration’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda, both of which prioritize modernization and inclusivity in public service delivery. Authorities have encouraged seniors to download the eGovPH app and complete registration to activate their digital IDs.

At the launch event, government representatives demonstrated how to sign up for and use the NSCID, with technical assistance available for those unfamiliar with mobile technology. The initiative is expected to make it easier for seniors to access services from anywhere in the country, especially in remote areas.
