Philippines Bureau of Internal Revenue Launches Digital TIN ID in eGovPH App

The Philippines’ Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has made its Digital TIN ID available through the eGovPH mobile application, giving taxpayers a way to carry and present their tax identification credentials digitally via the app’s Mobile ID Wallet feature.

The Digital TIN ID became accessible in the eGovPH app on April 24, 2026. Taxpayers who have already obtained their Digital TIN ID through the BIR’s Online Registration and Update System (ORUS) at orus.bir.gov.ph can now access and display the credential on their mobile device without needing to carry the physical card.

Two groups of taxpayers qualify for access: those who received their Digital TIN ID through ORUS, and existing TIN holders whose profile details match their eGovPH registration information. The BIR noted that the app does not issue the Digital TIN ID itself; it serves as a digital wallet for credentials that have already been issued through the bureau’s own registration system.

To protect taxpayer data, the Mobile ID Wallet requires an electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC) verification process that includes facial recognition when setting up the credential. Users must ensure their BIR ORUS profile is updated and that their personal details match their eGovPH registration before attempting to access the Digital TIN ID through the wallet. The eGovPH app is available on both Android and iOS.

The eGovPH platform, developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), serves as the Philippine government’s unified digital services application. It already hosts several government credentials and services, and the addition of the BIR’s Digital TIN ID continues the country’s broader push toward digitising public services and reducing reliance on physical documents.

The Philippines has been steadily expanding its digital government infrastructure in recent years, with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) national ID programme also progressing alongside the eGovPH platform. The Digital TIN ID integration represents another step in consolidating multiple government-issued credentials into a single mobile wallet accessible to the country’s taxpaying population. The BIR oversees tax collection for the Philippines’ more than 27 million registered taxpayers, and the move to digital credentials is expected to reduce the administrative burden on both taxpayers and government offices that currently process physical ID requests.
