Onfido has announced two strategically important appointments to its Board of Directors. Experienced tech executive Sue Barsamian will be lending her expertise and mentorship skills as a new Director, while former Okta CFO Bill Losch will act as Onfido’s Audit Chair.
In a statement, Onfido CEO Mike Tuchen explained that the new board appointees “are two exceptional industry leaders with specialized experience in accelerating companies into hypergrowth, which will be vital as we embark on the next stage of our expansion journey.”
For her part, Barsamian brings executive experience from multiple tech companies, most notably Hewlett Packard, where she started as VP of Business Operations and Strategy in 2007, eventually becoming Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of HPE Software for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, a position she held from 2016 to 2017. Now, she sits on the boards of multiple firms including Five9, Box, NortonLifeLock, Gainsight, and Xactly Corp.
Onfido’s announcement, however, highlighted her previous board roles, emphasizing a “track record of building and mentoring teams… at security company Symantec, data company Segment, and identity management platform, Auth0.”
Losch, meanwhile, was lauded for his leadership in helping Okta “to scale quickly from a disruptive start-up to a publicly traded technology firm which has grown to a forecasted $1 billion plus in revenue and 13,000 global customers.” Before serving as Okta’s Chief Financial Officer – a position he has held since 2013 – Losch was CFO of MobiTV, and he previously served in Chief Accounting Officer roles with Yahoo! and Dreamworks Animation.
“I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to work with Sue and Bill,” Tuschen said. “With our enhanced leadership team, we’re in a strong position to make accessing the digital economy a safe and smooth experience for everyone.”
The expansion of Onfido’s board – and the company’s ability to attract this kind of talent – speaks to the company’s rising profile amid growing demand for biometric identity verification solutions. Onfido has been reporting significant revenue increases, and was recently a winner in the 2021 CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards. Building on its momentum, the company announced its acquisition of liveness detection startup EYN last month.
