Nymi and Fingerprints Launch Industrial Wearable for Secure Worker Access

Nymi and Fingerprints have partnered on the Nymi Band 4, a new wearable device that provides secure, passwordless authentication for workers in challenging industrial environments. The device integrates Fingerprints’ biometric sensor technology to enable reliable user verification in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, and other demanding workplace settings.

The Nymi Band 4 builds on the company’s previous authentication solutions, introducing enhanced features designed specifically for deskless workers who often share terminals or wear protective equipment. The device combines continuous biometric authentication with touch-based gesture controls, allowing workers to securely access systems and complete digital workflows without removing safety gear.

“We’ve really valued our partnership with Nymi over the years and it’s great to see Fingerprints’ biometric technology selected again for the Nymi Band 4,” said Adam Philpott, CEO at Fingerprint Cards AB. “This collaboration represents our push in wearable authentication solutions, providing our customers with unparalleled security and convenience.”

The partnership comes at a crucial time for industrial authentication solutions, as pharmaceutical manufacturers and other regulated industries seek more secure and efficient ways to manage worker access and maintain compliance. Fourteen of the top 15 global pharmaceutical manufacturers already use Nymi’s technology, highlighting the growing adoption of biometric authentication in highly regulated environments.

Gregor Simeonov, Director of Hardware at Nymi, emphasized the device’s practical applications: “With the Nymi Band 4, our goal was to create a biometric wearable authenticator that is both easy to use and rugged enough for demanding environments like manufacturing shop floors and cleanrooms.”

The new wearable features enterprise system integration capabilities and supports multi-factor authentication protocols while prioritizing user privacy. Its on-device controls enable simple navigation for tasks such as labeling and data management, making it particularly valuable for industries with strict security and compliance requirements.
