“The partnership follows NEXT Biometrics’ announcement in late October that its Level-0 Registered Device Service for Android had attained certification from the Unique Identification Authority of India, which administrates the Aadhaar program.”
A new partnership could see NEXT Biometrics extend its presence in the Indian market, but the company and its partner are keeping tight-lipped about what their collaboration will entail.
The partner in question, Digitsecure India Pvt, is a Hyderabad-based firm also known as LastMile Mobi. The company is involved in a number of areas including eKYC solutions compliant with Aadhaar, India’s biometric national ID program; e-signatures; digital payments; and delivery tracking – all facilitated via mobile devices supporting biometric authentication.
In a statement announcing their partnership, NEXT Biometrics said it would work with Digitsecure “to develop new products based on NEXT’s advanced, large-area fingerprint sensor technology,” but added, “Specific product information and detailed objectives for the joint project are not being disclosed at this time.”
The partnership follows NEXT Biometrics’ announcement in late October that its Level-0 Registered Device Service for Android had attained certification from the Unique Identification Authority of India, which administrates the Aadhaar program. Shortly after that, the company announced that POS specialist Telpo had ordered sensor technology from NEXT that would be used in payments solutions for the Aadhaar market. All of which suggests the India is becoming a market of intense focus for Oslo-based NEXT Biometrics.
