A New York-based bank has opted for biometric security from BIO-key, the company has announced.
BIO-key has not disclosed the name of its newest client, but describes it as a regional bank serving customers across Long Island and neighboring New York City boroughs. The bank is taking advantage of BIO-key’s biometric authentication solutions to enhance its in-house security, with employees to sign into IT assets via fingerprint scan.
More specifically, the bank will use BIO-key’s PIV-Pro fingerprint scanner, a FIPS 201-compliant device, for computer access; and that will be facilitated via BIO-key’s ID Director software, which is designed to integrate with Microsoft’s Active Directory platform to enable biometric authentication on Windows.
Commenting on the deployment in a statement, BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale gestured to evolving regulatory frameworks as a factor encouraging the adoption of biometric security. “We are pleased to have been selected for this deployment and look forward to providing the bank with our secure, yet convenient multi-factor authentication solutions to support their objective of maintaining compliance with the New York State Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Law,” he said.
