New Digital ID Platform Launches Without Biometrics, Major Banks Testing System

Billions.Network, a new digital identity platform, has launched with the aim of revolutionizing identity verification through a privacy-focused, non-biometric approach. The launch comes as recent regulatory actions against biometric-based platforms have highlighted the growing importance of privacy-preserving solutions.

The platform uses zero-knowledge verification technology called Circom, designed to provide secure identity verification without compromising user privacy. Unlike competitors such as Worldcoin, which has faced security challenges with its biometric collection methods, Billions.Network does not collect biometric data or rely on proprietary hardware.

Several major institutions are already exploring Billions.Network’s capabilities. TikTok is investigating the platform’s libraries, while Deutsche Bank and HSBC have tested the verification system in Proof-of-Concepts. The platform reports that over 9,000 Web2 and Web3 projects are implementing Circom, serving over 150 million users.

Evin McMullen, CEO and co-founder of Billions, emphasized the platform’s mission: “The fundamental mission of Billions.Network is to enable users to prove their humanity, access a plethora of benefits, and provide legal, safe proof-of-uniqueness anytime, anywhere, and for everyone.”

The platform’s launch is particularly significant given the current digital identity landscape. While some competitors have achieved substantial user growth, they continue to face regulatory scrutiny and privacy concerns. Billions.Network’s non-biometric approach may help address these challenges while still providing robust identity verification.

In terms of global reach, the team is collaborating with the Government of India to enhance the security and accessibility of Aadhar, the country’s Unique Identification Authority. The platform also incorporates native token rewards, airdrops, and loyalty programs to incentivize user engagement.

The launch coincides with growing momentum in digital ID adoption, as many U.S. states implement or advance legislation for digital driver’s licenses and comprehensive digital identity frameworks. This timing positions Billions.Network to potentially capitalize on the increasing demand for secure, privacy-focused digital identity solutions.
