Power Dynamic Technology has introduced PowerKids, a biometric digital wallet designed specifically for children, positioning it as a pioneering solution in youth financial education and digital payment security. The platform enables children to make purchases using facial recognition, eliminating the need for cards, cash, or smartphones while integrating advanced parental controls.
The wallet is built on a biometric authentication system that mirrors technologies developed for secure applications in other sectors, providing a real-world platform for children to learn about budgeting, spending, and saving in a digitally secure environment. Children access their accounts by scanning their face or finger, while parents configure each account through a SecureID setup and manage permissions using the companion PowerPay app.
Parents can monitor transactions, set spending limits, receive real-time alerts, and use educational features including financial literacy games, challenges, and rewards designed to help children build positive money habits.
Power Dynamic Technology, a Romanian-based biometrics and fintech firm, has previously demonstrated retail-focused biometric platforms in Bucharest. The company’s expansion into child-focused financial products reflects a broader trend in AI-driven security and consumer-focused digital identity tools.
The PowerKids platform is designed primarily for in-person, point-of-sale purchases and includes merchant filtering tools to ensure spending aligns with child-appropriate settings. However, it is not yet clear whether online transactions are supported or if the service is operable outside Romania or beyond the European Union.
While the product’s features are notable, the platform’s use of children’s biometric data raises important considerations around data privacy and regulatory compliance. Power Dynamic Technology has not yet publicly disclosed how biometric data is stored or secured, nor how it complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and local data protection laws concerning minors. Under EU law, biometric data is considered sensitive personal data and requires explicit parental consent, strict access controls, and transparent privacy policies.
The platform also enters a growing market for youth digital finance. Globally, tech giants like Google and Apple have begun rolling out tap-to-pay wallets for children with biometric login and parental supervision. While PowerKids is possibly the first such biometric wallet launched in Romania—and potentially Europe—competing products such as Google’s upcoming kid-focused wallet and Apple Cash Family already offer alternative models with card-based access, usage restrictions, and spending analytics.
Despite these challenges, the combination of biometric security, gamified financial education, and real-time parental controls gives PowerKids a unique foothold in the emerging space of secure, child-oriented digital payments. If implemented with proper safeguards and regulatory compliance, the platform could serve as both a practical financial tool and an early bridge to responsible participation in the digital economy.
