Neurotechnology Tops NIST PFT III Evaluation with Leading Fingerprint Algorithm

Neurotechnology has secured first place in the latest Proprietary Fingerprint Template (PFT) III evaluation conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), reaffirming the company’s leadership in fingerprint verification technology. The firm’s proprietary algorithm achieved the highest accuracy scores across all four datasets in the evaluation, which is widely considered one of the most authoritative fingerprint testing benchmarks in the world.clipboard icon

The PFT III benchmark helps guide procurement decisions by government agencies, law enforcement, and commercial organizations globally. Neurotechnology’s top ranking underscores the quality of its core biometric technology, which is used in high-stakes identification systems ranging from border control to civil ID programs.

The result comes just months after the company released major upgrades to its MegaMatcher ABIS platform, featuring enhanced algorithms and expanded scalability for national biometric deployments. In April, it also strengthened its forensic capabilities by adding latent print matching and case-linking tools to its MegaMatcher Criminal Investigation suite.

“Outperforming every other submission in all datasets confirms our technology’s clear advantages in law-enforcement and border-control scenarios,” said Evaldas Borcovas, Biometric Research Lead at Neurotechnology. The company has long participated in NIST evaluations, viewing them as critical benchmarks to validate system performance under independent scrutiny.

The achievement comes at a time when public-sector interest in advanced biometric systems is accelerating. Federal agencies like the FBI are exploring ways to enhance their identification platforms, and vendors are racing to offer algorithms with stronger accuracy, adaptability, and forensic utility. Neurotechnology’s consistent performance in these evaluations positions it as a leading contender for such deployments.

Competition in the space continues to intensify. Companies like Innovatrics recently posted strong results in other NIST benchmarks, including latent fingerprint matching, highlighting the dynamic pace of innovation across the biometric landscape.

Neurotechnology attributes its sustained success to ongoing investments in research and development. The company’s product line supports a range of applications including border security, civil registry, criminal investigations, and mobile identity systems. With rising demand for reliable, independently validated solutions, PFT III rankings remain a key signal for institutions evaluating biometric vendors.
