NEC National Security Systems Names Todd Morris as New President

NEC Corporation of America has appointed Todd Morris as president of NEC National Security Systems (NEC NSS), marking a major leadership transition for the company’s federal government-focused subsidiary. Morris succeeds Dr. Kathleen Kiernan, who is retiring after nearly four years in the role and will continue to serve as an executive adviser during the transition period.

Federal Contracting Veteran Takes the Helm

Morris brings more than 30 years of experience in federal government contracting to the position. He most recently served as CEO of Fusion Technology, where he led a successful business transformation. His career includes executive roles at MetroStar, Maximus, and more than two decades at General Dynamics Information Technology.

“Todd’s track record of growth, operational excellence and mission-focused leadership makes him the ideal choice to lead NEC NSS through its next chapter,” said Chris Jackson, President and CEO of NEC Corporation of America. “His deep understanding of the federal landscape and proven ability to scale businesses will be invaluable as we continue to deliver advanced technology solutions to U.S. government partners.”

NEC NSS operates under a Special Security Agreement (SSA) with the U.S. government and functions as a Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI)-mitigated subsidiary. It specializes in delivering advanced biometric, identity, and artificial intelligence technologies to federal agencies. The company’s federal market presence has grown in recent years, including the establishment of its Arlington office in 2022, which strengthened its proximity to key government partners.

Continued Focus on National Security and Industry Leadership

Dr. Kiernan, a former federal law enforcement official, was appointed president of NEC NSS in 2021. Under her leadership, the company positioned itself as a significant player in federal security technology, expanding both its customer base and its industry presence. Her continued involvement as an adviser is intended to support a smooth leadership transition.

As president, Morris is expected to guide NEC NSS in advancing its role in national security initiatives, including the company’s active participation in industry groups such as the Security Industry Association’s Identity and Biometric Technology Advisory Board. The company’s leadership in identity and AI technology is expected to remain a core focus as it deepens its engagement with U.S. government stakeholders.
