Microsoft Bundles Entra Suite Into New Frontier Suite as AI Agent Identity Becomes Security Priority

Microsoft has announced Microsoft 365 E7: The Frontier Suite, a new enterprise bundle that brings together its productivity, AI agent, and security capabilities under one product, with general availability set for May 1, 2026. The Frontier Suite is priced at $99 per user per month and includes Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365, and Microsoft Entra Suite, along with advanced capabilities across Defender, Intune, and Purview.

The announcement centers on what Microsoft calls “Intelligence + Trust”, a framing that positions identity management as foundational to enterprise AI deployment, not an add-on. As AI agents proliferate across organizational workflows, the company argues that treating agents as identity-aware entities managed through the same infrastructure as human users is the only viable path to enterprise-scale governance.

Microsoft Entra’s role inside the Frontier Suite reflects that logic directly. A new feature called Agent ID assigns each AI agent a unique identity in Microsoft Entra, enabling organizations to apply Conditional Access policies, Identity Governance controls, and Identity Protection to agents working on behalf of users. This extends the same access control model that enterprises already use for employees to AI-driven processes that may access sensitive data, communicate on behalf of users, or execute business workflows autonomously.

The bundle also includes Agent 365, Microsoft’s control plane for AI agents, available separately at $15 per user per month. Agent 365 provides a registry of agents across the organization, risk signals from Defender, Entra, and Purview, and security policy templates that let IT and security teams enforce governance at onboarding. Microsoft reports that in its own internal deployment, more than 500,000 agents are now visible through Agent 365, generating over 65,000 daily responses for employees.

IDC has projected 1.3 billion AI agents in circulation by 2028. Microsoft’s decision to bundle Entra Suite into its top enterprise tier reflects an acknowledgment that agent identity management is already a pressing problem — not a future consideration. The Frontier Suite’s integrated approach to enterprise identity controls positions Microsoft as a single-vendor option for organizations that want AI capability and identity governance under the same contract.

Microsoft has positioned the $99 per user per month price as below what the same capabilities would cost if purchased separately. The suite will be available for purchase starting May 1, 2026.
