Malaysia’s My Blockchain Infrastructure has endorsed a privacy-preserving age verification approach built on the Zetrix platform, positioning it as a mechanism for enforcing age thresholds on social media and messaging services while limiting the collection and storage of sensitive identity data.
The approach relies on a one-time identity verification conducted through government-recognized identity issuers or verification providers, with examples including MyDigital ID and NIISe. Following verification, the user receives a digital proof of age that confirms whether a required threshold is met without sharing full identity details or copies of identification documents.
Zetrix describes the resulting proof as reusable across platforms that need to enforce age limits, without requiring repeated identity checks. The description emphasizes that biometric data and full identity attributes are not shared with relying platforms.
The endorsement is linked to an age assurance sandbox launched on January 1, 2026, intended to evaluate approaches to implementing minimum age requirements for social media use.
