“Chutian Dragon could therefore become a key ally in IDEX’s efforts to get its fingerprint sensor technology into major, large-scale launches of biometric payment cards, especially in China.”
IDEX Biometrics has a big new production and sales partner for its biometric payment card technology. The company has teamed up with Chutian Dragon Co., a China-based firm certified by China UnionPay, Mastercard, Visa, Amex, and JCB.
In a statement announcing the partnership, IDEX described Chutian Dragon as “a state-level high-tech enterprise combining product design, smart card production, sales and service of professional smart cards” and related systems and hardware. The company also asserted that its new partner’s production capacity reaches 700 million units per year, and that it’s “the main supplier of China Social ID Cards” and “one of the largest suppliers of cards to China Union Pay”.
Chutian Dragon could therefore become a key ally in IDEX’s efforts to get its fingerprint sensor technology into major, large-scale launches of biometric payment cards, especially in China. And IDEX CEO Stan Swearingen says the firm “is moving very fast on adopting biometric smart cards,” with plans to showcase the technology at next week’s Trustech 2018 event in France.
News of the partnership comes just a few days after IDEX’s announcement that its sensors were being used in a newly launched biometric payment cards trial in Asia, the product of its partnership with Feitian.
