John Hynes Joins IDEMIA Board

April 30, 2021

Security and identity solutions company IDEMIA has announced the addition of US Naval Academy and George Washington University graduate John Hynes as its latest Group Board member.

John Hynes Joins IDEMIA Board

“I’m honored to be joining IDEMIA, a company at the cutting edge of technology, at an exciting time in its development,” said Hynes. “Alongside Pierre Barrial, the other Board members and the company’s management team, I look forward to tapping into my experience to accelerate the company’s current and future projects.”

An industry veteran, Hynes brings with him more than 30 years of experience in top management positions with both public and private organizations, including terms as the head of multiple technology companies. He also possesses experience working with US federal agencies, a key area in IDEMIA’s strategic vision.

“John is a great professional, whose strategic vision will be a great asset to our Board,” said IDEMIA President & CEO Pierre Barrial. “His longstanding executive experience in serving the US Federal government and in digital technologies will be hugely beneficial to the Group moving forward.”

Hynes began his career in the United States Navy as an aviator before transitioning into the aerospace and defense industry, where his vast experience includes running ManTech’s security and mission assurance organization, working as the General Manager of SAIC’s mission support business, and later, as the senior Vice President of TASC’s defense and civil group before being appointed COO and then CEO.

Following TASC’s acquisition by Engility, John became president and COO of the combined business, before going on to become the CEO of Applied Insight where he now serves as Executive Chairman.

“We are pleased to welcome John Hynes to the IDEMIA Board,” said Chairman of the Board Yann Delabrière. “With more than 20 years of experience running leading companies that partner with the US government, John is an undisputed expert in security and is a tremendous addition to IDEMIA’s Board.”

The news of Hynes’s appointment follows another big announcement from IDEMIA regarding its work in the hotly anticipated biometric payment card market with partner IDEX Biometrics, with all signs pointing to an imminent launch of the contactless payment cards later this year.
