“QNB should be applauded for staking out a futuristic, leadership position when it comes to improving the security, convenience and safety of its customers as they access their accounts via bank ATMs.” – Mohammed Murad, Vice President, Global Sales & Business Development, Iris ID
Accolades for a major client are adding a bit of polish to Iris ID‘s reputation as well. The Asian Banker trade journal has bestowed Qatar National Bank with the award of “Best Biometrics Initiative, Application or Program in Qatar” thanks to its use of Iris ID’s iris recognition technology.
QNB’s deployment of Iris ID’s technology stretches back to 2016, when the bank decided to integrate iris recognition into its ATMs. What ensued was the Biometric Eyes (IRIS) Scan ATM program, which allowed customers to access ATMs with a simple biometric scan instead of a PIN, and no need to even have a banking card handy.
“QNB should be applauded for staking out a futuristic, leadership position when it comes to improving the security, convenience and safety of its customers as they access their accounts via bank ATMs,” said Iris ID VP Mohammed Murad in a statement.
Murad went on to highlight the utility of his company’s contactless biometric technology in the contexts of both financial services and the COVID-19 pandemic. “The ease and speed of our contactless iris-based recognition system makes it ideal for use in the financial industry,” he said. “Our contactless systems have taken on added importance with the worldwide spread of the COVID-19 virus.”
That last point was also a prominent theme in Murad’s recent interview with FindBiometrics President Peter O’Neill, published earlier this week.
