Intercede Integrates Aware’s Biometric Tech Into MyID Credentialing Solution

Aware and Intercede have joined forces in an effort to provide customers with better digital security. Intercede is best known for providing cybersecurity and credential management solutions for government agencies and other large organizations, while Aware is a developer of biometric services and software.

The new partnership will leverage the expertise of both companies. Intercede has integrated Aware’s portfolio of biometric services into its own MyID Credential Management System to provide customers with a stronger and more comprehensive security solution. In that regard, adding biometric capabilities to the MyID platform will help address (and mitigate) modern threats like data breaches and identity theft.

The agreement between Aware and Intercede is good for an initial five-year period, and comes with an option to extend the arrangement once they reach that point. In the meantime, the partnership is already generating a positive return for both companies. The two companies have secured their first customer as business partners, and will specifically be providing security technology for an unnamed US federal agency.

Aware’s biometric portfolio will enable the use of face and fingerprint recognition for authentication. The company’s tech will streamline the enrollment process, checking to make sure that there are not any duplicates. Meanwhile, the templates themselves can be stored on MyID smart cards to provide employees with secure and personalized credentials.

“By integrating Aware’s solution set into MyID, our customers benefit from the highest levels of identity assurance delivered as a commercial off-the-shelf solution,” said Intercede CEO Klaas van der Leest. “We expect the partnership to ensure Intercede is well positioned to meet the growing demand for high security digital identity solutions.”

Aware’s fingerprint recognition algorithm has received Level 1 and 2 MINEX certification from the NIST. The company added a cybersecurity specialist to its Board of Directors in February, and recently released a new AwareABIS platform that is being pitched to public agencies.
