Incognia Launches New Anti-fraud Digital ID Platform

Incognia has announced the launch of Incognia ID, a new digital identity platform that combines device intelligence with location behavior analysis to enhance fraud prevention capabilities. The platform is designed to move beyond traditional device fingerprinting methods by creating a persistent, behavioral identifier for users based on their typical location patterns and device characteristics.

Incognia ID’s launch comes amid a sharp rise in fraudulent activity, with the company reporting a 46 percent surge in recurring fraud incidents in 2024. According to Incognia’s data, over 60 percent of fraudsters now operate across multiple devices, and 70 percent perform weekly device resets to evade detection. The company says its platform can detect such behaviors and maintain user identification across devices and accounts, even in the face of frequent resets and tampering attempts.

In performance testing, Incognia claims its new solution delivers a 17-fold improvement in accuracy compared to leading facial recognition systems, offering enhanced resistance to spoofing and identity theft. The approach builds on Incognia’s previous fraud prevention innovations, including its deepfake detection tool introduced in 2022.

The platform’s underlying technology collects and processes multiple signals — including GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular data — to establish a dynamic location-based profile for each user. Incognia states that its data collection practices comply with major privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, and that user consent mechanisms are built into its SDK for app integrations. Nevertheless, reliance on mobile device sensors and user permissions may introduce some limitations, particularly in markets with heightened privacy sensitivities.

The company has previously demonstrated significant fraud reduction for challenger banks through its location-based authentication technology. Beyond fraud detection, Incognia’s solutions are increasingly used for frictionless user authentication, streamlining onboarding processes, and minimizing account takeover risks.

Incognia faces competition from other behavioral and location intelligence providers such as BioCatch and GeoComply. However, the company positions Incognia ID as differentiated through its ability to persistently identify users even when devices are wiped, reset, or otherwise manipulated.

Incognia’s expansion of its technology follows its achievement of SOC 2 Type II certification, which validates the company’s adherence to rigorous security and reliability standards. The certification is seen as an important credential as enterprises seek trusted partners in an environment of escalating fraud sophistication.
